5 Fun Things to Do in the Spring

Disclosure

Is the weather finally warming up for you? It is for me, and I am so ready to enjoy it. If you are looking for fun things to do in the spring, spring activities for kids or families, or just want to feel like you are starting the new season off right, this is the post for you. I’ve got 5 GREAT ways to kickstart spring.

1. Get outside!

The first of my fun things to do in the spring is to get outside. This feels pretty obvious, but it’s still my favorite. After a long and dreary winter, there is nothing like warmer weather and sunshine to get me itching to be outside.

If you can combine your day outside with a little exercise, all the better. A great way to enjoy the first warm days of spring is to check out your local hiking or rails to trails paths. Since it’s not the hot, humid days of summer, hiking is enjoyable AND it’s something we can do right now.

Not into hiking? How about playing some yard games? Now is the perfect time to dust off that old croquet set or play a family game of cornhole! It’s a nice change from all the board games and puzzles you might have played all winter!

👉 Check out this really fun outdoor game we picked up last fall – I can’t wait to pull it out and play this spring and summer!!!

2. Get up early

It’s easier to get up early in the spring and summer as the sun comes up earlier. Plus, early morning in the spring is lovely.

Grab your cup of coffee and a good book or your journal (I LOVE this quick and simple five-minute journalit’s a game-changer!) and start your day off outside or at least near an open window.

A new season is a perfect time to implement a new morning routine, one that will take you successfully through the summer. I promise you that if you can make this a habit, you’ll feel more productive and more centered as you begin each day!

👉 Insider tip: Looking for help in creating a morning routine? My favorite (and super affordable) course on this is from Crystal Paine. I’ve gone through it several times myself and find it useful every time!

3. Switch up dinner

There is just something about grilling dinner that feels special. Your yard will smell amazing and it’s so simple to clean up afterward! Plus, it’s a lot of fun to grill when the weather is nice.

Pour yourself a glass of wine or lemonade and bring dinner outdoors. Whether it’s salmon, steak, or burgers, grilling is a fun way to kick off the warm weather seasons!

For a bonus, eat dinner outside! It may not be your local restaurant, but I bet anything it’ll be delicious and a much more special evening than normal!

4. Celebrate a Spring Holiday

Aside from Mother’s Day and Memorial Day, there aren’t a lot of big holidays during Spring. So, why not find a smaller “holiday” and celebrate it? Finding a few of these can be really fun spring activities for the kids, and you can make them as elaborate or simple as you’d like.

Not sure how to do this? If you follow me on Facebook, every Monday I share two “days of the week” and give you ideas for how to celebrate them! Just add one every week and do something a little special to “celebrate” it!

Need an example? Well, for Star Wars Day on May 4th, you can watch a Star Wars movie (or 9). You can tell everyone you know “May the 4th be with you”, or try to re-create some of the fun cocktails available at Oga’s Cantina!

If you have a Star Wars fanatic as we do in the house, you can even play Star Wars Monopoly.

5. Clean out that closet

Okay, maybe this one isn’t fun for everyone, but you’ll feel fantastic when it’s finished, and it’s perfect for those rainy spring days when getting outside isn’t feasible.

Once the weather seems to be warm more than cold, I put away my winter clothes and pull out the warm weather clothing. It feels great to not have to dig through a bunch of sweaters to find my t-shirts and tank tops.

Plus, once those heavy clothes are gone, your closet will feel lighter and more spring-like too!

So how are you going to kickstart spring? I challenge you to pick one or two of these ideas and make this spring memorable! Don’t let life just fade from winter to summer – celebrate the season!
