Magic Kingdom Must Do's

5 Must-Do’s at Disney’s Magic Kingdom

Ready for a terrific day at Disney’s Magic Kingdom? Then make sure you include these 5 must-do’s! The Magic Kingdom can be overwhelming and quite busy, but if you take your time and enjoy the atmosphere, you’re sure to have a magical day. Don’t worry if you can’t accomplish every attraction in the park – just concentrate on the best of the best and let the rest go for another visit!

Disney's Magic Kingdom

Start with the Mountains

The Magic Kingdom has a few rides that will ALWAYS have a long line. Pick one of the mountains to start your day and you’ll have knocked at least one of those long line rides out of your way. If you want to ride the Seven Dwarf’s Mine Ride, start there – as soon as the park opens.

If that ride isn’t important to you, head over to either Thunder Mountain or Space Mountain. Riding one of these first ensures you won’t have to wait in a long line for it later. If you are feeling really adventurous and arrive at park opening, do them both. You’ll probably have to wait in line for one of them, but by mid-morning you will have enjoyed two of the notoriously busy rides!

Have fun on Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom

Splash Mountain is another favorite, but unless you don’t mind starting the day out wet, you might want to just suck it up and wait in line later in the day.

Take a mid-day break to cool off

The Magic Kingdom can get hot and crowded quickly. Especially by 12:30 – 1:00, most of your party is probably starting to drag a little. If you don’t want to head back to the condo for a break, why not take a break IN the park?

Carousel of Progress

This is the perfect time of the day to enjoy PhilharMagic or The Carousel of Progress. Both attractions are indoors in the air conditioning and long enough that you’ll get a nice break. The Enchanted Tiki Room would be another possibility.

Don’t forget lunch

There are several table services restaurants at the Magic Kingdom and we tend to rotate back and forth between Skipper Canteen and Tony’s Town Square. If it’s not a super hot day, I prefer Tony’s if we can get a table on the patio. It’s delightful to sit outside and people-watch while enjoying a Caprese salad and glass of wine.

If you time things right, you can even catch the 3:00 parade (or a cavalcade right now during COVID). The food isn’t anything special, but it’s decent Italian and you’ll definitely find something for everyone in your party to eat.

Join a dance party

Although these aren’t happening right now due to COVID, eventually I suspect this will start back up. Over in Tomorrowland throughout the evening, several characters host a dance party. Little kids (and even some big kids) love this! We’ve always gotten a kick out of jumping in and dancing with the characters!

End the day with a treat

Spending a day at the Magic Kingdom without enjoying a Dole Whip just isn’t right in my book! Make sure to stop at the Dole Whip stand and order one! My favorite time of the day is mid-afternoon – when it’s super hot. There is just nothing more refreshing! But, we’ve also picked them up to enjoy on our way out of the park or even when waiting in line for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride (note that right now you can’t eat while waiting in line).

Insider Tip: The servings are quite generous, so we usually order two and ask for two extra cups. It’s the perfect amount for our family of four and makes for a super affordable treat!

Visiting all the parks? Must-Do’s at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Must-Do’s at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Must-Do’s at Epcot.
