A Perfect Day Exploring Westfield
As I mentioned in the newsletter this week, Monday was a vacation day for me. Just me. I always seem to end up with extra days towards the end of the year so I like to take a few “mental health” days in November and December.
My plan was to check out a new coffee shop/ store north of Noblesville and a few new stores in Cicero (another small town). However, I didn’t take into account that Monday is the day lots of places were closed …
Luckily I wasn’t deterred, so once I realized my original plan was out, I decided to see if I could find enough to do to fill a day in Westfield, Indiana. Westfield is another city next to where I live and although we go to dinner there often and Urban Vines is there which I love and recently shared about in my Five Fun Fall Adventures in Hamilton County post, I hadn’t spent an entire day exploring before.
I started the day off at Titus Bakery for fresh, hot coffee and a delicious donut. Yum! This is a fairly new location and their donuts were perfection. Interesting flavors, freshly baked and tasty. Great way to start the day.
I headed over to the downtown area to see what I could find. Westfield’s downtown is tiny. There are a few stores and one stoplight. However, quite a bit is packed into a small area. In addition to the main street, there is a new “restaurant row” just a few blocks south – which contains some of our favorite restaurants – I’ll have to do an entire post about that sometime in the future.
Just north of the main street is a delicious and fun distillery. They have interesting drinks and live music often!
Recently a few fun boutiques have opened and I enjoyed browsing (and maybe a little buying). I was happy to see that I wasn’t the only shopper – I really want small stores like these to thrive!
Update: Super Bowl Pho has closed (so sad!), but there are several other wonderful places in downtown Westfield for lunch, so you won’t be at a loss for a lovely break in the day. Since I’d only had a donut for breakfast, I decided on an early lunch at one of my favorite quick stops – Super Bowl Pho.
If you like Pho, this is an excellent choice – it’s affordable, warm, and comforting. I love that I can spice it up as much as I’d like with sriracha sauce and fresh jalapenos. Yum! Super Bowl Pho also has one of my favorite treats – Vietnamese Iced Coffee. It brews right at your table over sweetened condensed milk. I always order one and take it to go. So good.
After a very filling lunch, I ran home to grab my pup, and Bernie and I took a nice long walk at MacGregor Park. This park is lovely with a nice long wooded trail. It’s rarely crowded and even if there are a few people enjoying the park, it feels very secluded. We both appreciated the exercise!
I planned on enjoying one more stop before I ended my day, the Grand Junction Tap Room, but discovered it’s closed on Mondays (of course!). Next time.
It was a wonderful, relaxing day and after a busy weekend, the perfect way to rejuvenate and feel like I had a little getaway before jumping right back into the grind. I do think I’ll try to plan a day other than Monday next time – just to give me more options!
