Why Choose a Disney Hotel for Adults?

When it comes to planning your Disney getaway, choosing the right hotel sets the tone for your entire experience. For instance, if you know you’ll be spending a lot of time at the Magic Kingdom, a monorail hotel is a terrific choice but if you want a resort stay with lots of activities, consider Animal Kingdom Lodge. Love Epcot? Maybe Riviera is the hotel for you.

And if you are on an adults-only Disney trip, the Grand Floridian is the hotel most often recommended. Picture this: serene pools, upscale dining options, and tranquil lounges where you can unwind after a day of park-hopping. Plus, there is a spa! So, if you’re craving a break from the hustle and bustle of the parks and want to elevate your Disney experience to new heights of luxury, choosing a Disney hotel geared towards adults (like the Grand Floridian) is the way to go.

Setting the Scene: Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Located on the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon lies Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. This iconic resort with its recognizable red roofs, exudes Victorian charm with its towering turrets, elegant architecture, and lush gardens, creating a timeless ambiance that transports guests to a bygone era of opulence. But don’t let its classic façade fool you – behind those stately doors lies a world of modern comforts and exclusive amenities tailored specifically for adult guests.

From lavish accommodations and gourmet dining options to rejuvenating spa treatments and sophisticated lounges, the Grand Floridian offers plenty of relaxation and indulgence amidst the excitement of the parks.

Immerse Yourself in Luxury: Accommodations at the Grand Floridian

Let’s talk about the rooms at the Grand Floridian – and trust me, they’re anything but ordinary. With plush furnishings, modern amenities, and a gentle nod to Alice in Wonderland, the rooms are beautiful but relaxing. Whether you’re crashing in a cozy studio or hotel room, spreading out in a suite, or living it up in a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villa, there’s something for everyone here.

But wait, it gets better. How about waking up to views of the Seven Seas Lagoon or catching glimpses of the Magic Kingdom from your window? Yep, that’s the kind of magic you can expect at the Grand Floridian. And let’s not forget about the little extras you’ll find at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (or any of the Deluxe resorts) that make all the difference – think comfy beds, spacious bathrooms, and all the creature comforts you need to feel right at home.

Culinary Delights: Dining Experiences at the Grand Floridian

Dining at the Grand Floridian is always a treat. We’ll sometimes walk over to the resort from the Magic Kingdom even if we aren’t staying there just to enjoy the restaurant and lounge scene.

1900 Park Fare

1900 Park Fare recently reopened as a character dining at The Grand Floridian. Some of the characters you might encounter include Aladdin, Cinderella, Mirabel, and Princess Tiana. Years ago we enjoyed a character dinner with Cinderella, the Wicked Stepmother, and the Stepsisters. The food was a step up from some of the other buffets and the setting was delightful.

Victoria & Albert’s

Victoria & Albert’s is the most expensive & exclusive restaurant on Disney property so of course it’s at the Grand Floridian. It’s considered signature dining by Disney and is only open for dinner. The menu is prix-fixe and starts at $295 per guest and you can add a wine pairing for an additional cost. Needless to say there is a dress code and you’ll want to book reservations in advance.

Narcoossee’s

If Victoria & Albert’s is too much for you (and it probably is for most of us!), consider dinner at Narcoosee’s or Citircos instead. Both are still considered signature dining by Disney, but at a more reasonable price point. Narcoosee’s has a waterfront, coastal vibe with plenty of fresh seafood as well as surf-and-turf options.

Citricos

Citricos has a fun Mary Poppins theme and it features a Florida/Mediterranean menu. It’s not inexpensive but would be a lovely and relaxing upscale dinner if you want to enjoy a special night at the resort.

Citricos Lounge

One of my favorite tips for enjoying amazing food at Disney resorts without a reservation is to visit the lounge versus the main dining room of some of the top-tier restaurants. Often I prefer the appetizers to the main dishes anyway, and a tasty appetizer plus a fun cocktail or glass of wine is perfect! Citricos Lounge has a bonus in that you can order off the full dinner menu! So, if you can’t get a reservation at Citricos and want to eat there, give the lounge a try.

Enchanted Rose

Enchanted Rose is one of our favorite stops when we are indulging in a monorail bar crawl (wait, you mean you don’t do those too?). With tasty appetizers and really fun drinks like Lavender Fog and Expresso Martinis, it’s always a good time! It’s inspired by Beauty and the Beast and is well worth the visit for the atmosphere alone (but get the drinks too!)

Grand Floridian Cafe

For a more casual spot ideal for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, head over to the Grand Floridian Cafe. You’ll get to enjoy lovely views of the gardens while dining on American favorites like cobb or Caesar salads, pastas, sandwiches, and traditional brunch favorites during the breakfast/lunch hours. Plus, you can join the walk-up list on the My Disney Experience app if you don’t have a reservation.

Gasparilla Island Grill

Every Disney resort has a quick-service restaurant and Gasparilla Island Grill is the one at the Grand Floridian Hotel & Spa. It’s open most of the day and serves your traditional Disney quick-service food – sandwiches, salads, and flatbreads along with various snack items. It’s a great choice if you just need a quick and easy meal.

Beaches Pool Bar & Grill & Courtyard Pool Bar

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has two pool bars, the Beaches Pool Bar & Grill and the Courtyard Pool Bar. Both of them offer fun tropical drinks perfect for relaxing poolside along with some simple food offerings (sandwiches, burgers, etc.). I did notice that Beaches seems to have a few more food items available.

Relaxation and Recreation: Amenities for Adult Guests

Picture yourself lounging by the pool, soaking up the Florida sun with a cold drink in hand. Ah, that sounds pretty perfect, doesn’t it? Well, at the Grand Floridian, that’s just the beginning.

The Grand Floridian’s got your back with its top-notch spa and health club. Treat yourself to a massage, indulge in a facial, or just kick back in the sauna – whatever floats your boat, you’ll find it here. Talk about the perfect adult indulgence, right? The spa is one of the reasons I consider this one of the best Disney World hotels for adults.

Looking for more adult-focused entertainment? Grab a drink at one of the swanky lounges, catch some live music, or even take a romantic stroll along the waterfront – and watch the fireworks or the Electrical Light Parade if you time it right.

Still need park tickets? I’ve always had terrific luck using Undercover Tourist!

Beyond the Parks: Unique Experiences and Perks

When you stay at the Grand Floridian you’ll also get access to exclusive experiences like early park admission. Plus, the ability to either ride the monorail back to your resort or even WALK from the Magic Kingdom is amazing.
