Books I loved in April 2017

It’s that time of the month again!  Quick reviews on my favorite books.  I read a nice mix of fiction and non-fiction this month.  HERE is the list of everything and below are my favorites:

For those of you in the corporate world like me, I’m sure you’ve heard about and probably engaged in design thinking.  It’s one of the hot new “ways of working.”  This book applies that method to designing your life.  I love it.  It’s a fresh way to think about where you are today and what you want your life to look like.  I also love that there isn’t an “end” – just constant experimentation and new iterations – so just as I preach to my clients – enjoying the process is as important as getting to the end goal.  If you are looking for a new way to create a life you love, give this book a read.  My rating 4.5 out of 5.

Shelby is a typical teenager with a lot of promise in her future until one night she is involved in a horrific accident with her best friend.  After the accident, Shelby unravels from within until her life bears no resemblence to the life she was living before.  The book then takes you through Shelby’s unconventional way back to a life she finds worth living.  I had trouble getting into the book at first, but continued on and ended up loving Shelby and her journey.  My rating 4 out of 5.

I actually read this book in one day – I had to find out how it turned out.  Don’t read ahead or you’ll spoil the story.  Ava returns home after being away in Paris for two years because her twin sister has apparently died in a fire.  However Ava suspects that everything is not as it seems.  Her sister Zelda leads her on a crazy chase to find out what really happened.  This would make a great pool or airplane read – keeps you interested and moves quickly.  My rating 4.5 out of 5.

I’ve got a basket of novels ready to read, but nothing on deck for Non-Fiction.  Any ideas?  Please share as I need some good ones!
