Two Easy Ways to Make Extra Money on the Side – Part 2
Are you ready to learn a few more super easy ways to make extra money? Remember last week I shared two of my all-time favorites, Swagbucks and Rakuten? Both of those I’ve been using for YEARS. This week I’m sharing two newer ones that I’ve been very impressed with so far.
Sell your stuff to make extra $$
Remember the days of selling everything on eBay? I know I made a TON of money selling old baby clothes back in the day. A few weeks ago I decided to give it a go again to sell some of my son’s old soccer cleats.
I sold two pairs, but it was very cumbersome and with the high fees I didn’t make as much as I’d hoped.
Then, I found out about Mercari.
Mercari is an app you download to your phone where you can easily sell and buy items from other sellers. It was so simple to list items right from my phone – I discovered it only takes me a few minutes to list something!
I also love that it’s not an auction like eBay, so I set my price, and then if I want Mercari has a feature where they will lower the price every day or so until it hits a floor I’ve preset.
One of the things that drove me crazy with eBay was figuring out shipping. Mercari makes it simple. You can either offer free shipping, or they will help you set a price based on what you are selling.
Once the item is sold, you just print out a prepaid shipping label, package the item and drop it off at your local post office or UPS store. So easy!
👉 UPDATE: Since this post went live I’m up to $268! Sweet! If you want to give this a try, use THIS referral link and you’ll get $10 off your first purchase and $20 when you make your first $100 selling on Mercari. That’s an extra $30 for FREE!!!
Submit those receipts!
Fetch Rewards is another one of my all-time favorite money makers. It’s SUPER simple and a great way to earn points that you can turn in for gift cards. If you want to track your grocery spending, it will also do that for you. Win-win!
Download the app Fetch Rewards and then after each trip to any store, restaurant or gas station, you simply scan your receipt (right from the app) and submit it. You can also link your Amazon account and once a week or so, click the e-receipt button and Fetch Rewards will pull in your Amazon purchases.
Although there are often specials where if you buy certain items you’ll get more points, I don’t worry too much about that and just scan my receipt for whatever I was already purchasing. I’m all about keeping it easy.
Insider tip: as soon as you get in your car, open up Fetch Rewards, scan your receipt, submit it, and you are done. It will take you just a few minutes and you don’t have to worry about forgetting to do it later.
Every few weeks there will be a promo where if you submit a receipt by a certain date you get an extra amount of points, but most receipts will generate at least 25 points (more if you buy promo items).
Every 10,000 points are worth a $10 gift card to dozens of restaurants! I plan on using my points for Panera or Starbucks as those are places we frequent often while traveling for coffee or a quick breakfast on the road.
I’ve just been using Fetch Rewards for a few months (and I’m definitely not perfect at adding all my receipts) and I’m already past my first $10 gift card!
👉 Sign up for Fetch Rewards with code F1VTB and you’ll get $2 in points when you snap your first receipt. EASY money, right?
These are great tips. I’ve never heard of either app, but definitely want to try them out. Especially Fetch Rewards.
Just remember to scan those receipts!
Great tips! I’ve heard Mercari, but not Fetch Rewards. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for sharing!

Great tips. I haven’t heard of these. I’ve used Tradesy before and sold a few hundred, but they changed their setup and it wasn’t worth it. I’ll have to look at these.

I love making a little extra money so I can save for travel
Always!
This is great. I’ve been using Fetch for a little over a year, but I had no idea I could link my Amazon account. I will definitely be doing that now and should rack up some points quickly!
Yes, I easily get extra points with Amazon weekly!

I keep thinking about selling some stuff, but it seems a little overwhelming. I will have to check out Mercari for sure!
That’s why I quit eBay – it was just too much. Mercari is so much easier.
