Frugal Friday – Give the gift of Relief!
Ready for a quick and easy gift? One that will give your friends and family some pain relief? Make up a few of these cute little muscle ache pillows and share them with everyone you love.
We’ve been using these in our household for years – my kids have even made up their own small versions using their own socks. You could just put some rice in a sock and be done with it, but for a gift, why not take that next step and make it a little prettier?
These will take you less than half an hour to make, but they will last for YEARS. They travel well, work wonders and are perfect for anyone with the occasional achy back, neck or head.
Step one: Start with a clean sock and fill it about two-thirds with rice. Tie it closed with a string. You can add some dried lavender in with the rice for a nice additional scent, but it’s not necessary for effectiveness.
Step two: Using your filled sock as an outline, cut out a piece of fabric that is large enough to cover the filled sock. Pin it together and sew three of the four open sides.
Step three: Turn your bag inside out and slip the filled sock inside. Stitch the open side closed.
To use, simply heat the bag in the microwave for sixty seconds – then place it on your achy head, neck or back. Want to really bump up the pleasure? Sprinkle a few drops of lavender oil on the bag once it is warm. These socks are wonderfully soothing – give it a try!
