Fun things to do in Peoria Arizona

Ready for a perfect day in Peoria Arizona? We recently tagged on a few days after a soccer showcase in Tuscon at the lovely Cibola Vista Resort and Spa and had a lot of fun exploring the nearby towns of Peoria and Glendale and finding things to do near Cibola Vista Resort. After our visit, I think we’ve hit upon the best things to do near Peoria Arizona.

👉 Check rates and dates at Cibola Vista Resort and Spa – it was a wonderful base for our explorations!

1. Start the day with coffee

Since we spent two mornings in Peoria, we tried out two different coffee shops. Both were wonderful and I’d happily head back to either one.

Lola Coffee

The first morning we had planned on being active all day, so we knew we needed to fuel up with strong coffee and a yummy breakfast.

We ended up at Lola Coffee (a location that had just opened in nearby Glendale) and enjoyed an Americano and made-to-order breakfast burritos. The place was hopping with plenty of folks enjoying breakfast like us, students studying, and even a few people working remotely.

The burritos were filling and delicious. We loaded them up with eggs, veggies, and meat and topped them with fresh salsa and sour cream. YUM!

The Well Coffee Company

The second morning we were headed out of town to Scottsdale so really just wanted a quick (but good) coffee for the road. Right down the street from Cibola, we discovered The Well Coffee Company.

It appeared to be connected to a church but was also a stand-alone coffee shop. The inside was adorable, the prices affordable and the coffee divine.

My son tried a seasonal coffee, a Strawberry Mocha Latte and it was one of the best lattes I’ve ever had. Truly – I’m still thinking about it. It tasted like chocolate-covered strawberries. Since it was a gorgeous morning, we sat outside for a bit and enjoyed our drinks before hitting the road.

2. Explore the area on e-bikes

Next on our agenda was something I’ve always wanted to try, and when I was searching for things to do in Peoria Arizona, and saw that the Pedego dealer offered e-bike rentals I was 100% on board.

What a fun activity for all of us. It can be difficult for a teenage boy to be traveling with just his parents, but we all had a blast riding these e-bikes. There were quite a few trails easily accessible from the Pedego store, so after a quick training lesson, we were off.

The helmets we used had microphones in them so we could talk to each other as we rode – it made the experience much more interactive and fun.

Riding a Pedego e-bike is a blast!

The trails were gorgeous and a terrific way to see a lot of the desert landscape that is so different from what we enjoy at home in the Midwest. I have to say after riding these bikes, I’m extremely tempted to invest in some for home use!

👉 If you are in Peoria or Glendale, AZ, don’t skip this fun activity. Here is a link to the company we worked with!

3. Lunch at Outta Bronx

After a few hours of cruising the trails in the sunshine, we were in the mood for a filling but quick lunch. After all, there was still plenty of daylight left for all the other fun things to do near Peoria Arizona!

So, thanks to our trusty Yelp we found a cute little sandwich shop called Outta Bronx. The menu is limited, there are only a few places to sit and you order at the counter, but don’t let that dissuade you. The sandwiches were legit.

We shared a Rueben, a Cheesesteak, and an order of pickle chips. Honestly, had I realized the sandwiches came with fries we could have skipped the pickle chips, but they were still enjoyed by all.

4. Visit Lake Pleasant

A lake in the middle of the desert? This I had to see, so after lunch, we drove over to Lake Pleasant to check it out.

When you enter the Pleasant Harbor Marina parking lot, you have to pay $7 to park your car, and then hitch a ride on the free shuttle to the actual marina. It was fun to check out all the boats, and if the weather had been a bit warmer we might have considered renting a kayak or paddleboard.

Lake Pleasant Cruises and paddleboards

As it was, we spent our time wandering the docks, checking out the store, and playing a few video games in the restaurant. There are also Lake Pleasant cruises that have afternoon and dinner boat rides, but they weren’t operating on the date we visited. I bet it would be a fun way to see the lake, so I’m filing that away for future trips.

I’ve also filed away the restaurant, Dillon’s Bayou, for a future trip – with a large stage and plenty of seating, I bet it’s hopping on the nights they have live music!

5. Pool Time

We were still quite full from lunch, so headed back to Cibola Vista Resort and Spa for some pool time. There are two pools at this resort and both are wonderful. Each has a bar and/or food truck for drinks and food, and the larger pool often has pool games and music.

The pools were pretty busy, but we were able to find loungers and spent a few hours relaxing, reading and even playing a game of bingo.

6. Dinner at Mochilero Kitchen

Dinner was an easy choice based on the excellent reviews of Mochilero Kitchen. Although not a large restaurant, there was plenty of seating and we were able to easily snag a high four-top near the bar.

The food here is delicious, but the real treat was the cocktails. They were spectacular. Our server was also the bartender and she can make some amazing drinks. I enjoyed the Jalapeno Margarita (the best one I’ve ever had), and my husband had the Lime Drop (which was SOOO good). My son even got his own cucumber refresher that tasted pretty darn good for a non-alcoholic drink.

Food at Mochilero Kitchen

Definitely add a meal at Mochilero Kitchen to your list of things to do in Peoria Arizona next time you visit – and if it’s available, add a bowl of freshly made Posole!

7. A perfect day in Peoria Arizona includes fun at PopStroke

Still not ready to call it quits, we headed over to PopStroke for a few rounds of miniature golf. Designed by Tiger Woods, Popstroke is unlike any mini-golf course I’ve experienced.

There are two 18-hole courses, and after paying one price (which was a little hefty), you could play as many times as you wanted. We ended up playing three rounds, so we did feel like we got our money’s worth.

In addition to a great course, PopStroke has a bar in the center of the course, a HUGE open-air bar and restaurant (with lots of TVs) in the front, and fresh ice cream and milkshakes next to the entrance. You could easily spend half a day here!

8. End your day in Historic Old Town

Enjoy a late-night coffee at Driftwood Coffee in Historic Old Town Peoria. They are open until 9:00 every night and the coffee is outstanding. It’s got a cool, chic urban vibe and is a great way to cap off a day full of fun things to do in Peoria Arizona!
