June 2017 Favorite Books
I started this month off slowly, but ended up reading four books in just a few days – vacations will do that for you! Here is a list of everything I read this month and below are highlights of my favorites. What was your favorite book this month?
NON-FICTION
This was a very inspiring book – it focuses on seven important areas of life and shares stories of women who experienced change in each area. The areas it covers are quite close to the ones I focus on in my coaching business so I really enjoyed the insights. My rating 3.5 out of 5.
FICTION
What a fun book! The characters were quirky and entertaining and I just loved them all. Benedict Stone’s life is falling apart and he doesn’t have the energy or gumption to fix it. Unexpectedly, a neice he’s never met shows up and is exactly the catalyst for change he needs. My rating 4 out of 5.
A very fast read – I consumed it by the pool one day. A school shooting is narrated by a cast of characters present or affected by the situation. I didn’t get a strong emotional connection to any of the characters – the way the book was written in short sections for each character as the events unfolded didn’t allow for that, but the story was engaging nonetheless. Thought-provoking and raw. My rating 4 out of 5.
I just picked up a new stack of books from the library – a nice mix of fiction and non-fiction so we’ll see how the last month of summer goes!
