Early in September,  I mentioned goal setting as something I wanted to concentrate on a bit this month.  Let me explain where I’m coming from . . .

I’ve discovered that if I don’t set goals for myself (big and small),  I’ll just spend everyday putting out fires and handling my normal daily routine, but nothing new or special gets accomplished.  Sound familiar?

However, if I set goals for myself, I will accomplish all those normal daily things, PLUS a few of my bigger projects.  Without concrete goals, it’s easy to get caught up in the day to day.

Most people set goals for themselves in January – I do too!  I’ve found that September is a great time to re-visit those goals and get fired up about them again, or even set some new ones.  School is starting, the routine changes, weather changes, and there is still enough time to accomplish something by the end of the year.

Today I’d like to encourage you to sit down for five minutes with a drink and a piece of paper and think about what you’d still like to accomplish (or finish) in 2012!  Not your daily goals, but the bigger things that you’ve been putting off.  Write them down and then join me next week when we’ll talk about how to meet those goals!

To get you started, here are my goals for the rest of 2012:


  • Get Meal Planning e-course up and running
  • Finalize the “New You in the New Year” Group program
  • 2013 Blog/ Website plan
  • Create a Holiday e-book


  • Monthly “dates” with each child
  • Several mini-vacations
  • Bi-monthly “date night” with hubby


  • Join a local small group
  • Clean house “drawer by drawer”
  • Do something creative each month!
