April included Spring Break for us – and a nice trip to Florida, so that meant a lot of fiction! Then, returning to home and a FULL sports schedule (and playing catch up at work), I didn’t read quite as much as I would have liked this month. HERE is the link to the complete list of books I’ve read so far this year (affiliate link).
I did have a few favorites in April, but honestly most of it was just light fiction reading – and nothing terribly spectacular at that! Hopefully May will be better!
Garlic & Sapphires was a really fun read. Ruth Reichl shares some of her more entertaining experiences as a food critic for the New York Times. She goes into some detail on how she alluded detection by the restaurant in order to get a “real experience” for her readers. None of the recipes interested me, so I didn’t give them a try, but they were cleverly woven into the book. This is the kind of book I like to keep in the car for carpool lines or waiting at the doctor’s office – it’s quick and easy to read a chapter at a time, and each one stands on its own.
Since the copy of Now, Discover Your Strengths that I read last month was from the library, I wasn’t able to take the Strength Finders Survey to discover my particular strengths. I love the idea behind these books that you ought to focus on improving your strengths versus attempting to “fix” your weaknesses. Although much of Strength Finders 2.0 was covered in the first book, there was a bit of new information, and I was able to use the code to take the survey – which was very interesting. How will I use “my strengths?” Still investigating that, but definitely gave me some good food for thought!
What were my strengths? In alphabetical order: Adaptability, Consistency, Harmony, Input and Positivity.
Since I’m out of new things to read, I just loaded a BUNCH of titles to my hold list at the library. I have a feeling they will all become available at once – so I should have some great updates next month!
What is your most recent favorite read? Anything you are dying to get your hands on? Please share in the comments – I love to get new book ideas!
A new month means a new Essential Oil for our Oil of the Month Club. May’s oil is going to be Inner Child – I’m super curious about the usefulness of this oil! Check out the club details here and order a bottle so you can join me!
