Not the most prolific reading month for me. We were on Fall Break for two weeks, which really threw me off my routine, so I think that was the biggest reason. A week of vacation for me (which was awesome) and then another week with the kids home while I was attempting to keep up with work. We also got ANOTHER new pet! A sweet little kitten named Cannoli. After getting a puppy, a kitten is a very simple addition – our puppy Bernie is STILL more work than the new guy! Some day he will settle down . . .
On to the books. HERE is everything I read this month, and below are my favorites:
What a lovely book. Although at first Ove seems very unlikeable, by the end of the book I just fell in love with him. And I have to say I was fighting the tears when the book was finished. A great reminder to reach out to others and have compassion – we don’t always know why people act the way they do, and a little tenacity and understanding can change multiple lives. My rating 4.5 out of 5.
Since it’s been twenty plus years since I read this classic, I thought it was time to enjoy it again. I’m pleased to say I loved it so much more this time around (probably because I chose to read it versus it being assigned). Now I feel ready to read Go Set a Watchman: A Novel. My rating 4.5 out of 5.
As one of the two books I reviewed in-depth this month, I found so many useful tips and exercises in this book. Much of the book was full of ideas I already use with my coaching clients, but it was a good reminder to implement them myself! For more of my thoughts, check out this post and this post. My rating 4 out of 5.
How about you? Have you read any great books lately? I’m always looking for recommendations, so please share in the comments or on my Facebook page!
