🥂 My favorite romantic hotel in Vero Beach is the Kimpton. Its terrific location is right on the ocean, it has a lovely pool, and with nightly wine hour and delicious coffee in the morning it feels a little indulgent too!
1. Walk along the beach
Walking along the beach in Vero Beach, Florida is not only a romantic activity but also a cherished experience that won’t cost you a dime. Picture this: hand in hand with your loved one, you stroll barefoot on the powdery sands, feeling the gentle caress of the warm ocean breeze against your skin. I love to grab a coffee and a towel and head down to the beach to enjoy the sunrise. It’s the perfect way to start the day.
As the sun rises from the east, sunrises over the ocean are especially lovely as the vibrant colors mingle with the tranquil waters of the Atlantic, casting a spellbinding glow that reflects off the sandy shores.
Indulging in the breathtaking sunsets and sunrises of Vero Beach, Florida is an inherently romantic experience that captures the essence of beauty, serenity, and connection. 4. Float in the ocean
When visiting Vero Beach in the summer (and sometimes the fall), the waters along the beach are often calm enough to grab a float and spend a lovely few hours just floating in the ocean.
When we drive to Vero Beach, Florida, we bring our own floats, but if we fly I just pick up a couple the day we arrive at CVS or Publix. You could even have them shipped to your hotel via Amazon. It’s well worth the expense to get to comfortably enjoy the gorgeous waters of the ocean!
5. Happy hour
My favorite way to end a lovely day at the beach at Vero Beach Florida is to enjoy a local happy hour. Many of the restaurants in Vero Beach and nearby Sebastian have wonderful happy hours with drink and food specials that are crazy affordable and delicious!
What makes Happy Hour in Vero Beach truly special is the scenic backdrop against which it unfolds. Picture yourself sipping your favorite drink on an outdoor patio or rooftop bar, as you soak in the warm Florida sun or enjoy a gentle breeze.
A few of my favorite happy hours in the area include Sebastian Saltwater, Captain Hiram’s, and Cobalt.
Whether you’re overlooking the sparkling waters of the Atlantic Ocean, nestled by the Indian River Lagoon, or surrounded by the charm of downtown Vero Beach, the picturesque setting adds an extra layer of pleasure to your Happy Hour experience.
6. Shopping downtown
There isn’t a trip I take to Vero Beach that we don’t spend at least an hour shopping downtown Vero (otherwise known as Ocean Drive). There are a dozen or so unique and adorable boutiques with everything from swimwear to kitchen gadgets.
Many of the shops are upscale, but the owners are universally friendly and welcoming. The downtown is well maintained and you can easily find a place to grab a coffee or ice cream to enjoy while you are shopping. Plus, you can scope out dinner options while you peruse the stores.

7. Farmer’s market
If you visit Vero Beach on a Saturday, be sure to set aside some time in the morning to visit the Vero Beach Farmer’s Market. Located right downtown in Humiston Park. It starts at 8:00 am and will be quite busy by 10:00.
We love to pick up some fresh fruit, bread, and even cheese and then take our bounty to the beach or our hotel for a little picnic breakfast. If you want to make life really easy, you can also select some already-made breakfast sandwiches or baked goods and enjoy them at the market with a cup of fresh coffee.
There is always some sort of live music and the atmosphere is relaxing and fun. A visit definitely qualifies as a fun thing to do in Vero Beach Floria for couples!

9. Airboat adventures in Vero Beach
Are you looking for unique things to do in Vero Beach for couples? Then an airboat ride with Captain Bob is what you need to try! We actually brought our kids along when we participated in one of these airboat tours, but it absolutely could be one of the top things to do in Vero Beach for couples.
You will want to book your tour ahead of time as the boat tours often fill up, and give yourself plenty of time to get to the arrival spot – it’s a bit tricky. Our Google Maps didn’t take us to the right spot, but I just called the airboat company and she was happy to help guide us to the location.
Bring plenty of bug spray and sunscreen – you’ll need it, but it’s worth it to be rewarded with amazing close-up encounters with alligators, waterfowl, and gorgeous flowers. This is a memory-maker activity for sure.
We chose the highly rated Marsh Beast Tours and thought it was a terrific experience, but all of the tours take off from the same location.
10. Paddleboard & kayak

12. Vero Beach Museum of Art (VBMA)
The Vero Beach Museum of Art is a fantastic choice for couples looking for things to do in Vero Beach when it rains or they just need a break from the sun. Much as I love the sun, my skin can only take so much of it, so I always add an activity like an art museum to our trips.
Upon entering the VBMA, you’ll be greeted by a contemporary and elegant architectural design that seamlessly blends with the surrounding landscape. The museum boasts spacious galleries that showcase a diverse range of artwork, including paintings, sculptures, photography, and mixed-media installations. With rotating exhibitions and a permanent collection that spans various artistic movements and styles, there is always something new and captivating to discover.
The Art Museum also hosts a variety of events such as concerts in the fall, Art in Bloom, and Fashion Meets Art, so check to see if anything is going on when you plan your visit.

13. Vero Beach couples massage
Want to really relax on your romantic trip to Vero Beach Florida? How about a couples massage? There are several locations in the area that offer this, although my recommendation would be the White Orchid Spa at the Kimpton Vero Beach Hotel.
The White Orchid is a full-service med spa, so they offer so much more than just massages. However, if you do want a couples massage, there are several options available. This could be a wonderful way to start (or end) your Vero Beach vacation.
Location: 3500 Ocean Drive, Vero Beach, FL
13. Grind & Grape
Looking for some fun things to do in Vero Beach at Night? Something we really enjoyed on our last trip to Vero Beach was live music in the evening at Grind & Grape. We have been visiting this restaurant for years for coffee and macaroons, but until our last trip hadn’t been there in the evening.
It was lovely to sit outside on the patio with a glass of wine and listen to a local musician or DJ. There were quite a few patrons out on the dance floor too! And, since we were staying at the Kimpton during that trip, it was a short walk back to the hotel when we were ready to leave.
This will definitely become a regular tradition on our trips to Vero as it was a ton of fun!
Location: 925 Bougainvillea Ln., Vero Beach, FL
14. American Icon Brewery
Visit a brewery in Vero Beach such as American Icon. There are several others to choose, from (Walking Tree is another excellent choice), but American Icon is my current favorite.
Sit at the bar and share a flight of beers along with a few appetizers. When the train comes by, be sure to order a $5 shot! I’ve tried most of their beers and my favorite (that’s only available seasonally) is called Florida Heat. It’s so yummy!
If the evening is nice, it could be quite cozy to sit outside by one of the firepits under the lights enjoying a night of good beer, food, and conversation. An outing to a local brewery is always one of my go-to date ideas!
Location: 1133 19th Place, Vero Beach, FL
15. Sipping cocktails at Waldo’s Restaurant & Bar
Sipping cocktails at Waldo’s is one of my favorite date night ideas in Vero Beach, FL. Located right downtown, Waldo’s has some of the BEST ocean views, and their cocktails are simple but delicious.
Sometimes we share shrimp tacos or peel-and-eat shrimp, but typically we just grab a few drinks, ask for a table overlooking the ocean and enjoy the crazy atmosphere. Often you’ll encounter live music, and sometimes it can get a bit rowdy, but it’s always a good time.
Location: 3150 Ocean Drive, Vero Beach, FL
16. Trivia at Captain Hiram’s
If you find yourself in Vero Beach on a Tuesday night, head over to Captain Hiram’s in nearby Sebastian for trivia.
We’ll order glasses of wine and some oysters or shrimp and compete with the locals. It’s a lot of fun, very laid back, and a nice change of pace from the typical seafood dinner we enjoy when in Florida.
It’s free to join in, and they hand out pretty nice prizes! But, even if you don’t win, you’ll have a good time!
Location: 1580 US Highway 1, Sebastian, FL
17. Walking at Riverside Park
If you are looking for more active things to do in Vero Beach Florida, consider checking out the trails at Riverside Park. The park’s prime location along the Indian River Lagoon adds to its allure, offering stunning waterfront views that captivate the senses.
As the sun begins to set, Riverside Park transforms into a romantic haven. The warm, golden hues of the twilight sky reflect off the tranquil waters, casting a mesmerizing glow. Find a comfortable bench or a secluded spot along the riverbank and revel in the breathtaking views, as the fading sunlight paints a captivating canvas before your eyes. We’ve taken some of our best sunset pictures in Vero Beach at Riverside Park.
Riverside Theatre is also located by Riverside Park, so while you are walking, check to see if there is a show while you are in town – it could be another fun date night!
Location: 3280 Riverside Park Drive, Vero Beach, FL
18. Try fat tire bikes
A really fun and unusual activity for couples visiting Vero Beach is to rent fat tire electric bikes and do some exploring!
We recently rented electric bikes on a trip to Peoria, Arizona and it was so much fun! It’s now become one of our favorite ideas for unique things to do while on vacation.
There is a company in Vero Beach that rents these bikes, so check it out and consider adding this to your list of fun and romantic things to do in Vero Beach Florida!
🚴♀️ Check out bike rentals here for an afternoon of fun!
Places to Eat in Vero Beach Indiana for Couples
You definitely won’t go hungry when you visit Vero Beach Florida. There are dozens of fantastic restaurants, but here are a few of my favorites perfect for couples ready for a delicious meal.
21. The Crab Stop
The Crab Stop is almost always the first place we enjoy dinner on our trips to Vero Beach, Florida. There are two locations, one in Vero Beach and one in Sebastian, and I actually prefer the Sebastian location even though the drive is longer because you can sit outside by the water.
The drinks are good (and the happy hour prices are amazing for wine and beer), and the seafood is delicious. We’ll share a huge platter of crab legs, peel & eat shrimp, heavenly potatoes, and corn and gobble up every bite. It’s so good, and we definitely consider it one of the best restaurants in Vero Beach (or at least nearby)!
Location: 1550 Indian River Drive, Sebastian, FL
22. The Green Cabin
Located at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, The Green Cabin is a favorite spot for an evening cocktail and appetizers. My preference is to sit outside on the balcony and enjoy the balmy air and sounds of the ocean. Their margarita is my favorite margarita out there!
If you are staying at the resort you can sign up for one of their drink classes, which is a lot of fun and one of my favorite date ideas at the beach. I’ve done the tequila class twice and enjoyed the drinks, the bartenders, and getting to know the other folks taking the class both times.
Finally, if you get lucky, we’ve even sat up in the bar by the railing and watched one of the Disney movies showing on the lawn below – it was a fun way to end a full day at the resort.
Location: 9250 Island Grove Terrace, Vero Beach, FL
23. The Lemon Tree
If you enjoy a delicious brunch, The Lemon Tree is a terrific option in Vero Beach. It’s located right downtown on the main drag and is an easy walk from the Kimpton.
The lemon blueberry pancakes are delicious as is the avocado toast, and if it’s not too hot, it’s lovely to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the fresh air.
Location: 3125 Ocean Drive, Vero Beach, FL
24. Sebastian Saltwater Marina Restaurant
Another fun and romantic spot for dinner near Vero Beach that we recently discovered is Sebastian Saltwater. The atmosphere is relaxing and if you sit outside on the deck it’s fun to watch the boats and wildlife on the water.
On our last visit, we enjoyed one of the best appetizers we’ve encountered in the Vero Beach area. It was full of seafood – fresh oysters, tuna, fish dip, and more. So delicious and with a glass of crisp white wine a wonderful light dinner.
Like all the restaurants in the area, Sebastian Saltwater has a terrific happy hour, so consider that if you don’t mind eating early.
Location: 1732 Indian River Drive, Sebastian, FL
25. The Sand Bar
Another must-visit spot when we head to Vero Beach is The Sand Bar. Part of Captain Hiran’s resort, The Sand Bar is one of the best beach date night ideas in the area.
The bar is literally on the sand so it’s all outside, and there is live music nightly. Depending upon the night, you might enjoy a simple singer playing their guitar or a full band on the stage.
The food is good, the drinks are tasty, and it’s just a really fun atmosphere for couples. It definitely feels like a vacation to sit back, listen to music, and enjoy a fruity cocktail.
Location: 1580 US Highway 1, Sebastian, FL

Where to Stay in Vero Beach Florida
Although there are a number of places to stay in Vero Beach (almost all the chain hotels are represented), for a romantic couple’s trip, I would pick the Kimpton for its fantastic location and top-notch service.
Getting Around Vero Beach
When we visit Vero Beach, Florida, we almost always combine it with a trip to Disney World, so we fly into Orlando and rent a car. The drive is about an hour and a half. There have been years we’ve driven to Vero Beach, but it’s more than a day’s drive from the Midwest.
You could also fly into West Palm Beach, Florida and your drive would be about the same. Regardless of how you arrive, you will want a car to get around as many of the restaurants and attractions are too far apart for walking.
🚗 I’ve had good luck using Discover Cars for car rentals.
