Well first of all because massages are Ah.Ma.Zing! But also because they are truly good for you.
- Promote relaxation and stress relief – with as busy and stressful as life is, we ALL need more relaxation
- Improves circulation and keeps skin looking young
- Decreases chronic pain – have frequent headaches? Or muscle pain? Try regular massage therapy
The easiest way to give it a go is to call a reputable company and book a massage. Most cities and towns have several good massage therapists these days. If you aren’t sure who to call, ask around – your local doctor or chiropractor probably has some good recommendations for you. In medium-sized cities you can expect to pay at least $1 per minute. So a 60 minute massage will run about $60. It is more expensive in larger cities, but most studios have various specials – often a first time promo or some type of monthly deal, so definitely check those out.
Once you find someone you feel comfortable with, I’d suggest trying to schedule a massage at least twice a month. Years ago I had horrible weekly headaches, but after beginning to receive twice a month massages (with a wonderful therapist at our local hospital), they went away. As long as I keep up with it, I rarely get headaches. However, if I miss a month or two, they come back. For me, that relief is worth every penny!
Still too expensive? Make a deal with your significant other or best friend to trade massages. You might not receive the same benefits as a professional massage, but I bet you’ll still gain some relaxation and stress relief!
