Tuesday Challenge – Have Some Berries!
Up for a yummy challenge?
[tweetherder]This week I challenge you to enjoy berries at least three times.[/tweetherder]
Because berries are good for you! Seriously, berries are full of antioxidants, vitamins, lutein (good for your eyes), polyphenols (good for your brain). Okay, that’s great and all, but what do those crazy sounding things do for you?
- antioxidants – help fight disease and slow down the aging process (yeah!)
- Lutein – good for your eyes (healthy eyes and sharp vision)
- Polyphenols – good for maintaining brain health (who doesn’t want that one?)
And check out this information:
A recent Harvard study followed 16,010 women over the age of 70, finding those who ate berries slowed memory loss by almost three years.
What’s so awesome is that they also taste GREAT!
How?
So simple.
There are so many delicious varieties of berries that you’ll never get bored with eating them. I love to freeze blueberries and then add them to my oatmeal or yogurt. They are also a wonderful, refreshing snack when still frozen. Berries are delicious dipped in chocolate for dessert, and who doesn’t love a tasty popsicle on a hot day? A bowl of mixed berries (blackberries, raspberries and blueberries is our favorite combination) appears at breakfast several times a week at my house.
This should be an easy and tasty challenge for you – enjoy! And please share in the comments other ways you love to indulge in berries.
