Beginning the Weekend off Right in Warsaw, IN!
Ready for some weekend fun? Warsaw, IN is a great choice for a Midwest weekend getaway or an Indiana day trip.
On a quick weekend trip to Warsaw, IN (someplace I had never been) for a soccer game, my son and I decided to make the most of our time and discover what Warsaw had to offer. We were pleasantly surprised at how much we found to do!
Where to stay in Warsaw, IN
We started our time off by checking out the hotel we were staying at. We stayed at the Wyndham Garden Hotel and it was perfect!
An indoor pool and hot tub? Check. Gameroom? Check. Arcade room? Check. Outdoor pool? Check. Comfortable rooms with a fridge and microwave? Check and check.
We also found the location to be ideal – it was minutes away from everything we wanted to do and see. Although we didn’t try it, there was a full-service restaurant and a bar. My son was quite interested in the room service, but we decided to head out instead. We did spend a fair amount of time playing pinball in the arcade room. That was lots of fun!

Where to eat in Warsaw, IN
Having heard good things about Spike’s Beach Grill, we headed over there for dinner. It was just a few minutes from the hotel. Spikes had an awesome beach bar feel with outdoor seating, sun-washed colors everywhere, and multiple sand volleyball pits.Â
There was even a stage for live music with a Cessna on top! Pretty cool. We enjoyed clam strips and vegetable sushi. I also indulged in a mango margarita – very tropical and yummy.
Fun things to do in Warsaw, Indiana
We managed to fill several days exploring Warsaw, but here are a few things to do that we enjoyed the first evening.
Visit the Village of Winoa
Since it was still early, we made our way to the Village of Winona for dessert. The Village is a quaint and very well-maintained mix of fun shops, restaurants, and homes alongside a canal that leads into Winona Lake. It felt very special and exclusive.Â
I think this would be a perfect spot to rent a house and a boat and enjoy a little lake getaway. Most of the shops were closed, but we walked the street and discovered Rocket Fizz was still open. Since it was just my 11-year-old son and myself, you can bet we (he) enjoyed that store immensely. We loaded up on some goodies and started heading back to the hotel.
Check out the Biblical Gardens
On our way back, we stopped to check out the Biblical Gardens. This garden is located in Central Park – which also offered lake views, playgrounds, and a fun concert area for live music and other events. The gardens were fun to explore and we enjoyed walking off a bit of the candy we had consumed. It was a lovely ending to a fun night!

I have never heard of Warsaw Indiana so thank you for introducing me. Your stay looks like an adventure of discovery and a good time.
Alison, I hope you get a chance to check it out someday – or at least somewhere in Indiana!
The gardens would be a place we would visit. Thank you for the suggestion and on lodging near the gardens.
Missy, they were lovely. The hotel was perfectly located in the center of everything.
Looks like you made the most of a soccer weekend!
Tonya, it’s what we have to do these days if we want to “travel”!
That hotel looks amazing! Seems to really be family friendly. We’ll have to check it out, and the Biblical Gardens too.
Kristi, the hotel was really nice – there was a LOT to do for a regular hotel. Perfect for kids!
I would love to see those gardens!
They were lovely.
Looks like you two had lots of fun. Loved the sign in Rocket Fizz, “If Life Gives You Melons You May be Dyslexic.” Lol
Cathy, I know – I get a big kick out of those signs in Rocket Fizz too!
The gardens look lovely! Looks like a great place to visit!
They were a lovely place to take a little walk after dinner. There was a free concert going on nearby so we could hear the music too which was nice.
