1. Country Heritage Winery and Vineyard

Country Heritage Winery & Vineyard, located just a short drive from Fort Wayne, has quickly established itself as a local favorite. Founded in 2011 by the husband-and-wife team of Jeremy and Jennifer Lutter, the winery has grown from its humble beginnings to now boast over 20 acres of vineyards, producing a wide variety of wines that capture the essence of the region.

On our last visit, I had the unique opportunity to chat with the winemaker, who generously shared insights into the art of winemaking. We even had a chance to taste a few wines straight from the barrel that hadn’t been bottled yet, which was a delicious and fun experience. It’s conversations like these that truly enrich your understanding of the care and passion that go into every bottle.

Country Heritage Winery is also known for its busy calendar of events. Almost every weekend, you can find live concerts and other lively gatherings that draw crowds looking for a fun, relaxing outing. Alongside the entertainment, they offer a tempting menu of food options that pair wonderfully with their wines, ensuring that your taste buds are as delighted as your ears.

For those interested in the behind-the-scenes workings of a winery, I highly recommend taking a winery tour. It’s not just educational; it’s a fun way to see the craftsmanship and dedication that goes into every stage of winemaking. From the harvesting of the grapes to the aging process, you’ll come away with a deep appreciation for the craft and probably find a new favorite wine to enjoy.

Insider tip: there are actually two Country Heritage Winery locations – they have a tasting room in Brown County Indiana!

2. Two EE’s Winery

Two EE’s Winery, established in 2013 by Eric and Emily Harris, stands out for its innovative approach to winemaking and its modern, welcoming facilities. Located conveniently close in Huntington, this winery has quickly become my favorite of the wineries near Fort Wayne Indiana.

During a recent visit, we indulged in one of Two EE’s signature wine and cheese tastings, which also included an option for chocolate pairings. It was a delightful experience, allowing us to explore how different flavors complement and enhance the wines. The knowledgeable server made the experience both informative and enjoyable, adding to the overall fun of our visit.

If you find that the scheduled tastings are fully booked, don’t worry. Two EE’s offers plenty of space in their large dining area and a scenic outdoor lawn where you can enjoy a few tastings or relax with a full glass of wine. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, perfect for a casual afternoon sipping and savoring their impressive selection.

Whether you’re a serious wine aficionado or just looking for a pleasant day out, Two EE’s Winery provides a memorable setting to enjoy good wine and good company. Thanks to a few recent visits I’ve become a huge fan and stop often to stock up on my favorite of their wines – their easy-to-drink Sauvignon Blanc!

3. Satek Winery

A bit further north, but still considered a winery near Fort Wayne Indiana is Satek Winery (Satek rhymes with attic). Satek Winery, located near Pokagon State Park, offers an ideal stop for those heading to or from the park’s various recreational activities. We visited Satek Winery during one of our winter trips to the park, famous for its thrilling toboggan run and comfy Potawatomi Inn.

Established in 2001, Satek Winery prides itself on crafting wines with a focus on quality and regional expression. Their commitment to excellence is evident in each glass, making it a rewarding stop after a day of boating in the summer or tobogganing in the winter at Pokagon State Park.

Visiting Satek Winery during these trips adds a relaxing and flavorful dimension to the outdoor activities at the park – we even picked up a few bottles to enjoy later at home which was a great reminder of our weekend getaway!

4. Byler Lane Winery

Another terrific winery near Fort Wayne Indiana is Byler Lane Winery. This was one of our stops on our visit to Auburn, Indiana, but I’d definitely stop again the next time we head up to Fort Wayne as it was a lovely atmosphere and we had a great time tasting the delicious wines.

Established in 2016 by a group of family and friends with a passion for wine, this winery has quickly made a name for itself with its friendly atmosphere and wide variety of crafted wines. The winery offers an array of wines that appeal to both seasoned palates and those new to wine tasting. Each selection showcases the care and passion that go into their winemaking process.

The winery is also known for its community-focused events and the warm hospitality of its staff. You can enjoy their tastings in a spacious area that encourages relaxing and socializing. If you like to be outdoors (like me!), there’s ample seating available on the grounds where you can sip your wine surrounded by the gentle ambiance of the Indiana landscape.

5. Acres Away Winery

Acres Away Winery is a brand-new winery in Ashley, Indiana, just north of Fort Wayne. It’s so new (opened in 2024) that I haven’t even visited yet, but it’s on my list! If you are familiar with Hartland Winery, it’s in the same location, the owner purchased that winery and reopened it as Acres Away.

The winery features a wood-fired oven for delicious pizzas (so it’s a good choice if you are looking for wineries near Fort Wayne with food) and a lovely atmosphere for enjoying carefully crafted wines year-round. Note that this is a 21+ environment, so don’t bring the kiddos to this winery.

6. Vinland Reserve Winery

Vinland Reserve Winery is the only one of the bunch that is actually considered a winery in Fort Wayne Indiana as it has a Fort Wayne address, but visiting it still feels like a little getaway from the city.

Although a newer addition to the local wine scene, Vinland Reserve has quickly earned a reputation for its distinct approach to winemaking and its dedication to serving it alongside mouthwatering cuisine.

Vinland Reserve focuses on small-batch production, and the winery features a modern tasting room where you can sample a variety of wines, from robust reds to refreshing whites. The staff knows their wine and are eager to discuss the characteristics of each wine, making our tasting both educational and enjoyable.

Vinland Reserve also offers a tranquil outdoor seating area where you can relax with a glass of wine. The setting is simple yet elegant, providing a perfect backdrop to enjoy the natural flavors of the wine without distraction.

Planning Your Visit to Fort Wayne Wineries

I hope I’ve sold you on adding a visit to at least one of these wineries in the Fort Wayne Indiana area to your itinerary, so let’s make it the best visit ever with these tips.

Best times of the year to visit

Although the wineries are open year-round, they aren’t all open every day of the week, so call ahead or check the website to be sure they will be open when you visit. There are more events happening in the summer months, so if you like live music, lots of action and to be outside, that might be a better time for you to visit.

However, I can attest to the fact that stopping in the fall when the leaves are turning is beautiful, and if you are on top of things, it’s a great time to pick up some wine for holiday gifts, so keep that option in mind.

Advice on making reservations

Unless you are planning on dinner or brunch at Vinyard Reserve Winery or want to ensure you get a tasting time at Two EE’s Winery, you probably don’t need to make a reservation.
